Two pilots.
One shared clock.

Live 1v1 is a free browser estimation game for two people playing at the same time. Seven questions. Fifteen seconds each. The closer estimates climb higher.

A private flight or a ranked rival?

WITH SOMEONE YOU KNOW

Invite a friend

Create an invitation, copy its link, and send it to one friend. Both people can play as guests in their browsers, without downloading an app. Both press Ready before the countdown. Private games do not change ratings.

WITH A NEW OPPONENT

Find a ranked match

Sign in to enter the ranked queue. You need another real player to match with; there are no stand-in bots or guaranteed instant matches. You can cancel while waiting, or use a private invitation with a friend.

From Ready to the result

  1. Both players press Ready. A three-second countdown starts the flight.
  2. Estimate the same numerical target within 15 seconds. Your first accepted answer is final; your opponent cannot see it before the reveal.
  3. Both answers reveal when both players have submitted or time runs out. A five-second break leads into the next question automatically.
  4. After seven rounds, the higher total altitude wins. Identical totals draw. Review each answer and its source, share the result or ask for a rematch. Both people must agree to play again.

The round clocks and reveals take only a few minutes. Matchmaking and waiting for your friend are additional time.

Accuracy counts. Speed does not add points.

The shared clock limits when you can answer; it does not deduct altitude during a live match. The same estimate earns the same altitude anywhere within the 15-second window. An unanswered round earns zero. There are no hints, boosts, combo bonuses or Golden Rounds in live play.

For example, an exact numerical estimate earns 1,250 m. An estimate of 5,000 for a target of 4,518 earns 820 m. Daily flights have a different timer and time-drift rule: see core scoring.

Your three kinds of results

Daily altitude and personal rating
The daily flight measures your climb. Profile personal rating is 1,000 plus your mean completed, verified daily altitude divided by 10.
Competitive Elo
Ranked live matches use a separate Elo rating, starting at 1,000 with K = 32. It changes with the result and the opponent’s rating. A private invitation does not affect it.
Crew and event standings
Group daily/weekly boards and cup/league totals use their own eligible flights. They do not change your Competitive Elo.

Five placement matches, then your division

The first five ranked games are provisional. After the fifth, your division appears based on your current rating. Ratings and divisions can change after later ranked matches.

These are Plain Game’s published rating rules. Daily altitude, Competitive Elo and crew standings are separate measures.

If a connection drops

Return to the match promptly. The original round clock keeps running; a 30-second absence or leaving after the countdown starts forfeits the game. Leaving before the countdown cancels without a rating change. Keep the match open on one device while playing.

Can friends play at different times?

Live 1v1 needs both players online together. For different schedules, create a Daily League: one stage opens every 24 hours and friends can play within its window. A Quick Cup opens every stage together. Or share an ordinary completed flight as a same-question challenge. Compare cups, leagues and their deadlines →

Before you fly

Use an internet-connected phone, tablet or desktop browser with JavaScript enabled. The interface and questions are in English. An account is optional for private play and required for ranked matchmaking; Google sign-in and email accounts are available. Creating an account requires age 13 or older. No payments or prizes are involved.

Your opponent sees your nickname and score. Ranked nicknames and results appear on the public board; participant answer history requires a participant session. Privacy details · Report a problem
